The spring portion of the Chadron State College Science Abroad speakers’ series will begin Tuesday, Feb. 8, with a presentation by Dr. Gary White, dean of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, Applied and Mathematical Sciences, and Sciences.

White's presentation, "Global Scholars Initiative," will be 5-6 p.m. in room 144 of the Math and Science Building. He plans to tell about CSC's efforts to attract international students and his November 2010 Fulbright program experience in Cherkassy, Ukraine.

White's presentation will be the first of four in the series.

Two of the presentations will be delivered by members of the science faculty. Dr. Ann Buchmann will deliver a presentation titled “Booze, Bogs and Blight: The Microbiology of Ireland” on Feb. 22. Dr. Mike Leite will speak about Costa Rica on March 22. Leite’s presentation, which is 4-5 p.m., is the only exception from the series’ usual time of 5-6 p.m.

The series will conclude April 5 when CSC graduate student Sarah Bennett speaks about her experiences in Puerto Rico.

Each presentation is open to the public free of charge.
