Domestic violence performance is Oct. 11

Published:

A free dramatic performance about domestic violence will be presented Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Chadron State College Student Center.

CSC’s residence life program is joining with Domestic Violence Education and Services, more commonly known as DOVES, to present a staged reading of the play “In My Daughter’s Name.”

The program, produced by The Angel’s Theatre Company, takes a personal look at domestic violence through a mother’s eyes. Amanda Thomas, the daughter referenced in the title, was murdered at age 27 by her ex-boyfriend and the father of one of her children. The play bears witness to the circumstances and complications leading up to Thomas’ death in 2009.

The play is expected to spark discussion, and a question-answer period with trained advocates will follow.
